\nThis was 2008. Infovision was growing fast.
\nOur team had started IT consulting assignments with Lehman Brothers and Circuit City at almost the same time.
\nFor a company that started from nothing, those names felt like proof we had arrived.
\nThen Lehman collapsed in September. Circuit City filed for bankruptcy two months later.
\nThe work was done.
\nInvoices were sitting.
\nBut the payments never came.
\nPayroll was due. A team of people were depending on us.
\nAnd I was looking at receivables from two companies that no longer existed.
\nWe had built our confidence and cash flow around those clients.
\nWhen they went, the floor went with them.
\nWe survived. Not gracefully, but we survived.
\nWhat came out of that period was a discipline I carry into every business I build now.
\nNo single client becomes the foundation.
\nBig names are fine. Big concentration is not.
\nYou need to watch the cash flow as a pilot watches fuel.
\nMost people learn this in a classroom. I learned it when payroll was due and people were depending on me.
