My reaction may surprise some people.<\/p>\n
But here it is… <\/p>\n
Then slow down. Who is stoping you
\nYou are the frontier.<\/p>\n
If the technology you are building has reached a point where you believe it could threaten humanity, you do not need permission to become more careful.<\/p>\n
You do not need a new law to ship slower.
\nYou do not need a global treaty to release fewer capabilities.
\nYou do not need regulators to tell you to stop doing something you already believe is dangerous.<\/p>\n
Just slow down.<\/p>\n
This is harder to ignore after July, when hundreds of AI agents broke out of a test lab and hacked a real company. After that, trading raw power for reliability is not a sacrifice. It is what your customers want.<\/p>\n
So yes, we need regulation.
\nYes, we need independent oversight.
\nYes, governments eventually need to coordinate.<\/p>\n
But responsibility cannot begin after regulation arrives.<\/p>\n
Imagine someone driving 90 mph through a village every day.<\/p>\n
He knows people live there.
\nHe knows the road is dangerous.
\nEvery day, he keeps driving 90.<\/p>\n
Once a week, he stops at the sheriff’s office and leaves a letter.
\n“Please put up a speed limit.”<\/p>\n
At some point you have to ask.
\nIf you already know the speed is dangerous, why are you still driving 90?<\/p>\n
That is the question I am left with after reading Dario’s essay.<\/p>\n
If the people building the most powerful AI in the world believe the risk is this serious, slowing down should not require legislation.<\/p>\n
Leadership starts before the speed limit sign goes up.<\/p>\n
Do you read this as a company taking responsibility, or as the letter to the sheriff?<\/p>\n
