I have books in almost every corner of my home.
Coffee tables. Stair corners. Random stacks near the TVs.
If you walk into any room, you’ll find a book waiting for you.
So people keep asking me:
“What’s your one favorite business book?”
Honestly… I don’t have one.
I’ve read hundreds of books over the years, and many were instrumental in building my business and career.
But I don’t believe in having one “favorite” book for life.
Because I don’t think books are favorites.
I think books are tools.
And the tool you need depends on the stage you’re in.
A book that changes your life at 30 can feel irrelevant at 45.
Not because it’s a bad book.
Because you’ve moved on.
Like childhood hobbies:
First it’s hide and seek.
Then it’s cricket.
Then it’s cycling.
Same kid. Different season.
Books work the same way.
In fact, the wrong book at the wrong time can slow you down.
If I had picked up “be happy and content” books too early, I might have lost the fire I needed.
And if you read strategy books like Good to Great before your operations are solid, you’ll end up with a vision you can’t execute.
So I read with one question:
“What problem am I trying to solve right now?”
Once the lesson is learned, I move on.
No loyalty required.
Whenever someone asks, “What’s your favorite book?”
I ask back: “What stage are you in right now?”
Because the right book depends on the season.
👇 What stage are you in right now and what’s ONE book helping you in that stage?
