When we started Dukanline in 2012
I spent lot of time with small retailers to understand how we can bring value to them.That’s when we introduced android tablets in Kirana stores to do Assisted Ecommerce
Initially we gave free android tablets to retailers for starting Dukanline Assisted Ecommerce
A few weeks later I personally visited some of those first few retailers
To my surprise many of them are not using the tablet computer for business rather they are using for personal use,It is not on the counter rather it was kept in side with their kids watching videos
It was shocking to me. After speaking to those retailers.
I have learned that there is no point giving free.
Decided to charge going forward.
In followed month we have sold to few hundred retailers.Then I visited few retailers who bought the tablet computer by paying. This time quite opposite, Most of them kept clean and doing business proudly by displaying that tablet on the counter
Lessons Learned:
1) Customers/Partners don’t value the things when they get it for free
2)Don’t give away your product for free to customers until unless customer is your product
